Bernd Lohaus is drawn to the dynamics and changeability of water, and more specifically rivers : the Rhine,  in his native Düsseldorf, and the Scheldt in his second home, Antwerp. Ohne Titel [Untitled] is constructed from weathered wooden blocks that he foud  in abandoned shipyards in the Antwerp harbour. Traces of a previous life remain visible on the material. The work exists anew each time as an act of placement in space that never becomes definitive, thus bearing witness to elusiveness and transience.
